Kim Kardashian West Goes Stag in a Slip Dress to the Met Gala

After much fanfare, Kim Kardashian West showed up solo to the 2017 Met Gala in a surprisingly subdued and streamlined slip dress. Designed by Vivienne Westwood, the off-the-shoulder number was a stark contrast to the feminine floral-printed Givenchy, Old Hollywood Lanvin, ethereal Roberto Cavalli Couture, and futuristic Balmain she had sported in previous years. The piece could have been considered the entrepreneur’s most avant-garde yet, due to its surprisingly simplistic approach to eveningwear.

Here, Kardashian West eschewed her typical more-is-more choices — a refreshing change, as she has been switching up her style this year. The silk georgette piece featured an exaggerated bow accent, marrying the ease and effortlessness of her vintage John Galliano at the MTV VMAs with the polish of the asymmetrical and corseted Westwood dress that she took to Rome. And with Kardashian West constantly keeping fans guessing, there’s no doubt her after-party look will be worth keeping up with, too.
