She was up against some of the biggest names in Hollywood for Favourite Comedic Movie Actress.
And as it turns out, Melissa McCarthy's competition was truly fierce.
The actress, 46, gave a hilarious speech as she accepted the award for Favourite Comedic Movie Actress at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday, joking that she literally had 'hand-to-hand' combat with several of the nominees, and that her tires were slashed by Rebel Wilson and Kristen Bell.

Melissa began the speech by thanking her fans, her husband Ben Falcone, and her 'work husband' Paul Feig, who directed her in Ghostbusters, which was released last year.
The actress got a laugh out of the audience once he started joking about just how tough her competition can actually be.
Anna Kendrick, Bell, Wilson, and Kristen Wiig were all nominated for the award, and not a single one of them were spared from Melissa's speech.
After thanking the 'amazing, amazing women in this category', Melissa admitted, 'You know, have we tussled? Yeah, we've gotten into it in on a couple separate, various occasions.
First things first: Melissa began the speech by thanking her fans, her husband Ben Falcone, and her 'work husband' Paul Feig, who directed her in Ghostbusters
'Would I call it hand-to-hand combat? Maybe. Maybe I would. Three of them. Three of them I would put into a hand-to-hand combat category, Kendrick's too quick. She's wiry.
'But am I a better person, for physically getting into...altercations with them? You bet! You bet I am!'
Melissa even joked she had a confrontation with her Ghostbusters co-star Kristen when they both found out they had been nominated for the honour.
'Kristen Wiig and I were together when we found out that we were both nominated, and we just lit into each other. I mean, just right off the bat. And what you may not know about Kristen is her wingspan is incredible.
'I mean, she is like a beautiful, strong, aggressive, orangutan with that reach, and her ability! Kristen Bell and Rebel Wilson slashed my tires, and I gotta say, bravo ladies! You got me, and you got me good!
'Fool me once though! And if you do it again Bell, I will come at you, like a house on fire. So I just want to be upfront.'
